Sara Smith has worked in fundraising and nonprofit communication her entire career. She has served in development leadership positions for organizations that span the sector, and she has raised millions of dollars through major gifts, planned giving and capital campaigns. Prior to joining Carter, Sara headed development and communication programs for the Norton Museum of Art, Florida Institute of Technology, Saint Edward’s School, Alverno College, Monmouth University and the Humane Society of Indian River, among others. In these roles, she authored projects targeted to high-net-worth individuals and private foundations that resulted in gifts and grants ranging from $25,000 to $1,500,000.
Focus at Carter
Sara specializes in developing case statements, campaign communications pieces, and major gift proposals for our partners seeking to identify, clarify, and coalesce around strategic fundraising goals and effectively introduce these goals to their donor constituencies. Through succinct writing, Sara helps stakeholders easily grasp the mission and goals of a nonprofit, understand their story, and appreciate the importance and impact of giving their personal support to the cause.
