Our History
- 1981: Bob Carter Joins Ketchum
Our co-founder and namesake, Bob Carter, joined Ketchum, one of America’s largest consulting companies at the time, and rose through the ranks. He became President in 1992 and served until 2007. - 2011: Bob Carter Companies Formed
Bob and Steve Higgins, Bob’s former colleague from Ketchum, partnered to begin building a team of senior-level fundraising and nonprofit consultants.
- 2015: We Become Carter
Originally formed as Bob Carter Companies in 2011, our collective team renamed the company Carter to honor Bob’s professional and personal contributions to philanthropy - Today: Continuing a Tradition
Today, our team has grown to more than 50 consultants, each with decades of experience, dedicated to advancing philanthropy worldwide by counseling nonprofit organizations on fundraising, organizational planning, governance, and global philanthropy.
