The Challenge
World Vision Asia Pacific recognized the untapped potential for securing significant gifts from high-net-worth individuals and approached Carter for support in developing major gift fundraising programs to support their five national offices in India, Indonesia, the Philippines, Sri Lanka and Thailand. Each of the offices had little, if any, major gift fundraising experience, so the task was to create entirely new programs.
How Carter Helped
Carter worked with each country for one year to lay the foundation, establish the structure, teach the principles of major gift fundraising, coach teams on how to cultivate and solicit major gifts, and work toward embedding major gift programs into their country’s ongoing fundraising strategy.
Spanning different languages and cultures, this customized, results-driven training program involved virtual group training sessions, specific prospect roundtables, and individual coaching for major gift officers, managers, CEOs, and board members.
Each component of the program took into consideration the unique culture and language of each participant, with careful thought given to developing accessible tools and training material.
The Results
The programs and coaching helped World Vision Asia Pacific’s five national offices establish the structure necessary for major gift fundraising success and ensured that team members had the skill sets to engage and steward major prospects and donors. The tools and training programs we developed continue to serve the organization as new hires are made.
